This past weekend, Hodge and Podge and I flew to New York City to explore, get inspired, catch up with old friends, and make some new ones too.

Squirrel Picnic’s New Year’s Eve Party 2016
Each year, Mayor Snack Frog hosts a New Year’s Eve party at Squirrel Picnic and invites all his friends from the picnic and beyond, including you! Rilakkuma, a super cute bear, is the special guest at the 2016 New Year’s Eve party. He’s brought a surprise all the way from Japan – a purikura machine! It’s like a photo booth but way cooler. Wait till you see everyone’s photos at the end. Enjoy the show!

Ring In 2016 at Mayor Snack Frog’s New Year’s Eve Party!
Hi there, Friend! It’s me, Mayor Snack Frog.
You are cordially invited to join us for a fatimal New Year’s Eve party at my home on December 31. We’ll have appetizers, beverages, and music. Dinner will be served at 7:30 followed by dancing on the tables and a spirited game of Twister. And of course there will be plenty of cheering and smooching at midnight.
This year the guest of honor will be flying in all the way from Japan. His name is Rilakkuma and he’s a true fatimal at heart. He loves sleeping, lying around, watching television, and listening to music. We think he’ll fit right in at the picnic.
Rilakkuma even sent this present ahead of him. We’d like to keep it secret until New Year’s, but I’ll give you a few clues for now.
1) It helps you make memories.
2) It brings friends closer.
3) It makes everything cute.
Any guesses what it is?
Join us on December 31 to ring in the new year, meet Rilakkuma, and watch as we unveil his gift to the picnic!
Hodge and Podge and Eric want to wish you a…
Are you ready for some Halloween fun? This year, I’m going as a T-Rex, and my hubby is going as a very spooky scarecrow. Hodge, with his superhero mask, is Raphael TMNT and Podge is a princess. Eric didn’t have time to put a costume together because he has been too busy in the lab, so he just put on a baseball cap. Bah hum bug. There’s still time to come up with a costume, Eric. Get in the spirit, squirrel friend. Halloween is the best day of the year! I even wore my T-Rex costume to Costco this morning and it was glorious. If I can do it, you can too!
Hodge’s Superhero Mask
Hodge wants to be a superhero for Halloween this year, but he hasn’t decided which one. In fact when I pressed him to choose, he asked, “Can I just be all of them?”
So I crocheted him a costume that is versatile enough to accessorize just about any superhero character: a mask. If he wants to be Batman or Zorro or the Dread Pirate Roberts, I’ll crochet one in black. If he decides to be Robin or the Green Lantern, I’ll crochet one in green. If he changes his mind for the 30th time and wants to be Captain America, all I have to do is whip up a new mask in blue. But he’s been talking about being Raphael the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle since he saw the movie last year, so I have a feeling that decision will stick, which is just fine with me because he’s already got this red one.
If your squirrel could be a superhero, which one would they choose? It’s pretty hard to decide, isn’t it.
