Each year, Mayor Snack Frog hosts a New Year’s Eve party at his pad and invites all his friends from the picnic and beyond, including you! This year, special guests flew all the way from Australia to attend. These delightful amigurumi characters by Sharon Pridmore of gentlestitches.com included a bushy-tailed possum, 3 foxes, a crocodile, dogs, and zombie bunnies. Australia is filled with dangerous creatures, so Sharon sent along some Easter brown snakes and a red-backed spider as well, all of which we found to be very well-behaved despite their reputation. You can find patterns for Sharon’s crochet creations on her website or Ravelry. We were also very excited to see that she sent along MEAP2, which she made with my cuddly robot crochet pattern, so MEAP had a girlfriend to dance with all night.
We hope you enjoy this very amateur stop-motion animation, and we wish you plenty to smile about in 2015!

Oh my Dog! That was one of the best videos I’ve ever watched! Nonstop stopmotion adorability! If the California Raisins took a few lessons from you, they might still be around these days! Heck, this would have been more entertaining to see on TV than watching Ryan Seacrest watch a ball drop!
I think MEAP’s solo dance cracked me up the most! That silly robot!
Mucho kudos to you for putting this together, and to Aunt Sharon for letting the crew come over to play!!! This made my morning… heck, it made my year already! 🙂

Holy moly! I wasn’t expecting such an enthusiastic response to my silly video. Thank you so much. YOU have made my year with your overwhelming support. I think I will try to stay up next year and post the video on New Year’s Eve. Someone needs to save the masses from Ryan Seacrest. Perhaps the clan will go to New York and take over the ball drop!

I am easily amused, as you might have guessed… but I pity anyone who could watch that and not get at least a smile from it! And those poor souls would probably be the kind of people who would kick a Rainbow Donkey!

Those people aren’t invited to the picnic. 🙂

Okay. (How’s that for unenthusiastic?) 😁

Hodge and Podge should go take over Ryan Seacrest’s job…I have a feeling they’d be a much more entertaining bunch! 🙂 Sharon’s creations are just adorable! I love love love love love Argyle, Plaid, and Paisley! 🙂
Happy New Year to all of your critters!
P.S. Don’t tell anyone, but I think that Beatrix wished that she could smooch with Eric at midnight! 😉 🙂

It sounds like we have a plan for next year! NYC here we come! I think Eric would rather have been with Beatrix as well. He just blew her a kiss. Did she get it?

MEAP was doing the robot? Awesome! Loved this video!
How did I miss that the spider was there?! 😀

Yay! I’m so glad you liked it. I love how hard it was to get MEAP to do the robot. He’s not your average robot you know. 🙂

Happy New Year! Another fabulous party, Jennifer — you know I’m a huge fan — and the Aussie visitors looked right at home.
Yes, next year in New York please!!! I can see the Squirrel Picnic disco ball drop going viral! …perhaps Rainbow Donkey would agree to be the guest host?

Anna! Those are all fantastic ideas! For a long time now I have been searching for a way to incorporate Rainbow Donkey into the Squirrel Picnic crew. New Year’s Eve is perfect! So that settles it. Next NYE, Squirrel Picnic parties with RD in NYC!!!! I can hardly wait. Thanks, Anna, and best wishes to you for a wonderful new year. ❤
